5 Stars- When Chicks Hatch, June 20, 2011
By S. V. Butterfield
This review is from: When Chicks Hatch (Paperback)
This book was a fast read. Very entertaining and a few tears and an ending that surprised me. Heather Randall did a great job bringing these women together. I could relate, at some point, to each of these women. It was a very inspirational book about God directing our paths in life. How things that seem unfair, is God working in our own lives. None of these women are perfect. They are all poor miserable sinners just as I am. But God was still there for each of them.

4 Stars- First book from a new author is worth reading!, June 9, 2011

I enjoyed the storyline of each character and felt that Heather did a great job bringing the characters to life with her descriptions. She also showed how God worked in each woman's life and the role that faith played in their decisions. I like the way their lives intersected and the friendships that developed. Most women will be able to identify with at least one of the characters in this book at some point in her life.

When Chicks Hatch is a quick read and would be a great addition to your summer book reading list. If you're a fan of Christian chick lit, you'll enjoy this book.

5 Star- Chicks are complicated!, June 3, 2011
By Hollie Eaddy

This review is from: When Chicks Hatch (Paperback)
Heather Randall's new book When Chicks Hatch is a wonderful novel that takes a deep look into the lives and hearts of five ladies. These five ladies end up crossing paths and being involved in each others lives in ways only made possible by the divine appointments that God often sets. Mrs Randall's unique writing grasp you from the very first page submerging you into the first characters life. You will read this book with and eagerness to know what choices they will make and to know how things work out. It was a delight to read about imperfect Christians leading real lives, making real mistakes and for some characters trying to find their way back to God.

I think I could see a little piece of me in all five women in the story. The strong bond of having a friend that would do anything in the world for you. A sister who is your strength when you can't be strong. A college student who made a mistake and feels ashamed. A woman betrayed by her husband trying to figure out if it's all worth it. Lastly but not least a young married woman who is faithful in the church but yet has the one desire of her heart left barren. As these women grow, change, pray, make mistakes, celebrate and love you find yourself feeling as if you know them all. The joys and trials of pregnancy and motherhood are so elegantly captured as you delve into the pages of a book that I couldn't possible put down until I read every last word was gone.

Mrs Randall brings twist and turns to real life situations that many woman face in their lives today. I loved the way the entire story tied together these five women in life changing events. Some events joyful, some heartbreaking as the author leads you up to a suspenseful ending that I was not expecting. She reminds us that Christian women are not perfect nor Christian men. That we live and strive to be as much like Jesus as we possible can in our human form. She makes is clear that no matter what God never leaves you and always is there to forgive you!

3 Stars- When Chicks Hatch by Heather Randall, May 29, 2011

Best friends Jennifer and Nicky, Sidney, Alexis and Kristen all face challenging situations in their lives. As the story unfolds, each of these women have accept and deal with their own personal struggles. Some because of their own choices, some couldn't be helped. Jennifer and Nicky's friendship results in a situation that could have cost their longtime relationship. Sidney made very bad choices because of her self-controlled past. Alexis is dealing with grief and rejection as she tries to save her marriage. And Kristen doesn't know what she wants, she's lost faith in her future. And the author weaves all of these ladies situations, showing that God can and will take a bad situation and make something good come from it.

This was an interesting book, with 5 ladies dealing with real life situations that women face today. The story of each woman was interesting, and I enjoyed reading about them. But as I read through the book, I really had a tough time keeping up with the characters and the plot. Each chapter, and sometimes within each chapter the author was back and forth from one situation to the other, and I had to keep going back to see where the story line was coming from and who was suppose to be with who. It was just confusing. And I wasn't happy when in reading, God's name was taken in vain twice. I feel that could have been avoided. And there was another cuss word in there than could have been avoided too. Like my dad always taught us, you can always say the same things without the bad words. She did refer to faith and hope, and how God can change any situation, no matter how bad it is. I give this book a 3.0 rating.

A big Thank You to Wine Press Publishing for providing me a copy of When Chicks Hatch to read in exchange for a review. I was not expected or requested to write a positive review of this book. The review and opinions are mine only.

"Heather Randall’s When Chicks Hatch is a moving story about faith and forgiveness. Randall has great sympathy for her characters, and a fine-tuned appreciation for the beauty of life’s imperfections. Her story is so touching because it focuses on the hope we find at our lowest moments. When Chicks Hatch introduces us to a diverse and very relatable cast of characters who face difficult decisions about faith, duty, and friendship. Randall’s message is that God’s forgiveness is infinite, even if we are unable to forgive ourselves. When Chicks Hatch is a great read filled with both bitter and sweet moments that will make you smile and make you wonder!"

"This truly felt like a story of Real People and Real Choices.  I may have known one of them or will meet them in the future.  Thanks for the reminder of the growing process there is in life and the effectiveness of God's grace." ~Sherri Pereira

"Heather Randall's When Chicks Hatch, is a thought provoking story of how several different livesare forever intertwined and changed due to an extramarital affair.
Each character is complex and has their own unique journey to overcome the ramifications of the affair.  It is only through their individual journeys back to God that they allow Him to enter and heal them, as He molds them into people who are stronger
and wiser from their experiences.  When Chicks Hatch is a gentle reminder to allow the healing power of God into your life to help you through adversity and to hold on to the relationships most important in your life." ~ Brenda Emmett
